The master blaster has long cherished his dream of building his own home from scratch. Back in 2008, the best batsman of our times, purchased an old villa near Carter Road, which in situated in suburban Mumbai in Bandra West.

If reports are to be believed, Tendulkar purchased the Dorab Villa from its owner, listed as the “Satra Group”, for a reported sum of an astounding Rs. 35 crore.

Vijay Satra, who is the brother of managing director Praful Satra, has confirmed the purchase of the villa by the living cricketing legend.

The Dorab Villa has originally built in the 1920s, and its original occupants were a Parsi family named the Wardens. The house has one storey, and measures around 9,000 square feet. The property covers a good 10,000 square feet in total.

Sachin spent many years residing at Sahitya Sahawas in Bandra East, before he shifted to Bandra West in 2001.
